How Does The Brazilian Keratin Treatment Work

By Tammie Caldwell

So, people like to have their hair straight. It is a big business and many salons offer a host of treatments to achieve just this. Those with straight hair want it to be wavy or permed. Those with kinky and wavy hair want it to be straight. Perhaps a Brazilian keratin treatment is the answer. After all, thousands swear by it. Many more use it on a regular basis.

Hair styles have always been important to those that wish to be fashionable. From the earliest days people have spent inordinate amounts of time to arrange their hair according to the latest fashions. Nothing has changed. Hair is still seen as the crown of a person, no doubt about it. In modern times, however, technology and a host of products make it easier to achieve the desired result.

The protein that covers the hair and that protects it against damage is called keratin. It is this substance that proponents of hair straighteners use to promise their clients silky soft, beautiful straight hair. They say that their treatments not only straighten the hair but also feed it and render it more healthy than it was before. And, of course, many women believe this and flock to the salons.

Despite criticism, those who believe in this treatment defend it ferociously. They like the idea that their hair looks the way they want it to look. They like the idea that they are able to change their hair the way they want to. If there is a negative side to the treatment they do not want to know about it. Results count, do they not.

Do not think that this treatment does not have critics. In fact, their are many of them. They say that the treatment causes hair loss, permanent damage to the hair, split ends and dryness that will cause a small fortune to heal. In fact, there is a high likelihood that those using this treatment will suffer hair loss, brittleness and loss of hair lustre.

It is interesting to note that OSHA has issued a warning about this kind of hair treatment. They found that the treatment not only damages the hair permanently, but that once treated it stopped the hair growing back naturally. They furthermore think that the treatment may have other long term health indications such as rashes, skin cancer and even permanent hair loss.

Despite the many criticisms against this method of hair straightening people continue to flock to salons to look the way they want to. Numerous web sites attest to the effectiveness of this treatment. Perhaps the jury is still out. But one thing is certain. As long as people want to look beautiful they will embrace treatments that give them what they want.

Regardless of the opinion of anybody, people will do what they want. Those who wants their hair straightened will do so. Even if they realise that they are damaging their hair they will still go ahead with changing it to their own desires. And who are us to challenge them.
